CQU is top draw for students

Rated among the best universities in Australia for the overall education experience and ranked highest among all Queensland-based universities for graduate starting salaries, Central Queensland University will draw school leavers and prospective adult students to its information booth -- - at the Rockhampton Careers Expo at the YMCA on Robinson Street on Tuesday 07 June from 3pm to 7pm - at the Gladstone Careers and Training Expo at the CQU Gladstone Engineering Building on Wednesday 08 June from 11am to 3pm and 4pm to 7pm “We’re providing quality degrees and offering graduate job opportunities that new students want,” said CQU representative Tony Gubbins, who will be on-hand to talk to prospective students and their families.

Attendees to the Market will be able to find out information on all the programs offered by CQU, on-campus and to external students, including details on new programs Property, Business Specialisations, Creative Enterprise and more. CQU graduates are employed, on average, above national levels – 85% compared to 79.7%.

The median salaries of CQU graduates working full-time outshines comparable national and state full-time salary medians, according to latest surveys by the Graduate Careers Council of Australia. On the whole, CQU graduates perform well with an overall median salary of $40 000 compared with the overall national and state median salary of $38 800.

“We’ll likely talk to as many school leavers who want to study on one of our seven locations here in Queensland as we will adult learners who want to study by distance,” added Mr Gubbins. Two-thirds of CQU’s domestic students, many who work full-time, participate in distance education.

With more than 60 degrees in areas as diverse as engineering, information technology, environmental studies to performing arts, it’s likely you’ll find a combination of location and study options that fits your lifestyle and learning needs.
