Jessica Chosen for National Youth Choir

Rockhampton singer Jessica Boyd is one of only two non-metropolitan singers chosen for the National Youth Choir of Australia’s 2003/2004 season.

PhotoID:848 The season involves rehearsals and concerts in Brisbane from April 20-26 and a United States tour in December 2003 and January 2004.

Jessica has previously been a member of the National Secondary Schools Female Honour Choir.

It was while performing with the secondary schools choir that she heard the National Youth Choir and decided to audition.

Jessica is currently in her first year of study with the Bachelor of Performing Arts degree program offered by CQU’s Central Queensland Conservatorium of Music.

The highlight of this month’s Brisbane season will be a concert at St Stephen’s Cathedral on Saturday, April 26.

NYCA is Australia’s equivalent to other ensembles such as the National Youth Choir of Great Britain. It consists of about 30 singers aged 18-28 selected by nationwide audition.
