Career path starts with British highway role

CQU Cooperative Engineering student Tracey Gargett (pictured right) has already worked on designs for Britain's highways and roads, thanks to the work experience component of her degree.
Her 12-months of paid work experience has included six months with Britain's WS Atkins engineering group and she is now working with a Mackay-based consulting firm.
Ms Gargett, who is due to complete her degree in June, has praised the project-based learning aspect of her study.
"It is a great way to use theory in practical, real-life situations and gives experience of working in groups, as in the engineering profession," she said.
The civil engineering student is confident of career options, particularly in the CQ region where employers are already aware of the quality of graduates from the James Goldston Faculty of Engineering and Physical Systems.
Ms Gargett, formerly of Mackay, is currently based at CQU Rockhampton, where she stays at the Capricornia College.
