Engaging Indigenous people within Higher Ed

CQUniversity's Office of Indigenous Engagement recently hosted a visit from the Oodgeroo Unit of Queensland University of Technology (QUT), at Rockhampton Campus.

Professor Anita Lee Hong, Director of the Oodgeroo Unit, and Lone Pearce, Project Officer, met with Office of Indigenous Engagement staff to discuss employment issues and best practice models for engaging Indigenous people within the higher education sector, including governance matters.

Academic board presidents from regional Qld gather at CQU 

Central Queensland University is hosting the first conference of Queensland regional universities’ Academic Board Presidents on Tuesday, November 25 from 10:30am to 3:30pm.

Academic Board Presidents lead their respective universities’ internal governance; providing academic and research guidance and leadership.

The meeting will have a particular focus on improving the quality of education, with a keynote speaker, Robyn Harris, from the Australian Universities Quality Agency. Universities attending include University of Southern Queensland, University of the Sunshine Coast and James Cook University.

CQU Academic Board President, Alan Knight said that regional universities needed to collaborate to make the most of scarce resources.
