Seven first-year students seeking to enrol at CQUniversity Mackay in 2009 will once again benefit from the partnership between Hail Creek Mine and CQUniversity.
The Hail Creek Mine CQUniversity Scholarship Program was established in 2007 to help counter the skills shortage in the Mackay area, encouraging local people to undertake study in Mackay to increase and retain the number of skilled people in the region.
Each scholarship is worth $4000 (payable over 2 years) and will be awarded in the disciplines of Science, Engineering, Business, Nursing, and Information Technology.
Hail Creek Mine General Manager Operations, Andrew Woodley, said that all prospective students in the Mackay Whitsunday area, which includes those in the mining areas of Moranbah, Dysart and Middlemount, are encouraged to apply for these scholarships and help address the skills shortage.
Applications are open from now up to January 30, 2009. Forms can be downloaded from http://www.cqu.edu.au/scholarships or for further information contact Anna Benson or Marie Cameron at Hail Creek Coal by phoning (07) 4951 6400.
