Engaging Indigenous people within Higher Ed

CQUniversity's Office of Indigenous Engagement recently hosted a visit from the Oodgeroo Unit of Queensland University of Technology (QUT), at Rockhampton Campus.

Professor Anita Lee Hong, Director of the Oodgeroo Unit, and Lone Pearce, Project Officer, met with Office of Indigenous Engagement staff to discuss employment issues and best practice models for engaging Indigenous people within the higher education sector, including governance matters.

CQU Alumni Workshop 

Central Queensland University graduates will have their chance to comment on the future development of the Gladstone campus at an Alumni workshop and social function on Saturday 13 July.

The workshop will be the first in a series of consultations with the local community to begin scoping a Strategic Plan (2003 – 2008) for the next stage in the development of the campus.

Gladstone Head of Campus, Associate Professor Robert Prater, said that over 700 CQU graduates currently reside in the Gladstone region.

“These graduates now occupy many key roles in the local community and workforce.

Mr Prater said that the graduates would spend some time considering the future of CQU Gladstone followed by an opportunity to catch up with old class mates, talk to staff and talk about activities and events on campus.

A tour of the campus will also be conducted prior to the workshop this will include an opportunity to visit the newly completed PELM research facility.
