Communications graduate nominated for radio award

CQU communications graduate Kim Lester is quickly making her mark in the media arena.

Ms Lester is one of four nominees in the prestigious ABC Local Radio Awards for 'Producer of the Year' open category against three producers from ABC metropolitan stations.

This is an outstanding accolade considering she only graduated at the end of 2003 and began her career in radio with ABC Capricornia this time last year.

Former ABC Radio Capricornia Manager Ross Quinn said: “She was an outstanding candidate when I interviewed her for the position and she's continued to develop enormously over the last twelve months.

“This reflects very well on CQU and particularly the Faculty of Informatics and Communication and the journalism program," he said.

Winners of the 2005 ABC Local Radio Awards will be announced in Sydney on Friday May 6 at an awards ceremony hosted by James O’Loghlin.
