IT graduate 'on track' with railway roster software

Graduating from CQU Brisbane with Distinction from a Bachelor of Information Technology, Sandeep Dhaliwal's success comes as no surprise to those who know him; he has always been a high achiever.

This attainment has now led him to securing a coveted role as a software engineer at Jeppesen; a Boeing company located in Toowong.

Sandeep was offered this role only 2 weeks after receiving his final term results.

After achieving high marks throughout his secondary schooling in Punjab, India, Sandeep decided to come to Australia to embark on his tertiary studies at CQU's Brisbane International Campus.

He thoroughly enjoyed his CQU experience and found the small class sizes particularly beneficial, as he was able to obtain frequent, personalised guidance from teaching staff, who he describes as ‘very helpful'.

The experience of studying on an international campus with students from many different countries and cultures assisted Sandeep to overcome any feeling of isolation. He felt "at home" and CQU provided him with "all the help and support a student needs".

Sandeep is delighted to have found employment in his chosen field of programming and has settled in well at Jeppesen.

He works specifically with RMS-R software, which plans shifts and makes rosters for rail crews.  This software is available in many different languages and its main clients are Queensland Rail, RailCorp, SNCF (France) and Rome Metro.

The company has a comprehensive mentoring program for all new employees, flexible working hours and approachable management. Sandeep is potentially able to continue his international experience with Jeppesen as it has offices around the world.

Sandeep's academic and professional success is well-earned and the staff at CQU Brisbane International Campus are proud of his achievements.

CQU may continue to support Sandeep's professional development, as he would like to return to the Brisbane Campus to undertake a Masters Degree in the near future.
