Engaging Indigenous people within Higher Ed

CQUniversity's Office of Indigenous Engagement recently hosted a visit from the Oodgeroo Unit of Queensland University of Technology (QUT), at Rockhampton Campus.

Professor Anita Lee Hong, Director of the Oodgeroo Unit, and Lone Pearce, Project Officer, met with Office of Indigenous Engagement staff to discuss employment issues and best practice models for engaging Indigenous people within the higher education sector, including governance matters.

Professor Taylor back on 'most influential' list 

CQU Executive Dean Professor Elizabeth Taylor AO is on the annual list of 'Australia's 100 Most Influential Engineers' for the third consecutive year.

The list is published by Engineers Australia's magazine to recognise significant achievements.

PhotoID:3051 Professor Taylor's leadership of the Faculty of Sciences, Engineering and Health is mentioned, along with her position as Chair of the Board of Professional Engineers of Queensland (she's the first woman to hold that position).

"Since 2005 she has been a member of the Queensland Manufacturing Leaders Group and at present is its representative on the National Manufacturing Forum," the magazine says.

The magazine says Professor Taylor recently was elected as deputy president of the Australian Council of Engineering Deans.

"She is deputy chair of the Board of Engineers Media, and a member of the Board and international representative of RedR Australia (Registered Engineers for Disaster Relief)".

Meanwhile, CQU MBA and civil engineering graduate Tim Griffin also makes the 'Influential Engineers' list.

The magazine mentions that Rockhampton-based Mr Griffin is serving is second term as National President of the Association of Professional Engineers, Scientists and Managers Australia (APESMA).
