Engaging Indigenous people within Higher Ed

CQUniversity's Office of Indigenous Engagement recently hosted a visit from the Oodgeroo Unit of Queensland University of Technology (QUT), at Rockhampton Campus.

Professor Anita Lee Hong, Director of the Oodgeroo Unit, and Lone Pearce, Project Officer, met with Office of Indigenous Engagement staff to discuss employment issues and best practice models for engaging Indigenous people within the higher education sector, including governance matters.

Equity Computer Award launched 

DELL Computers representative Stuart Kiernan and CQU Pro Vice-Chancellor (Academic Services) Professor Alex Radloff this week combined to launch the Equity Computer Award.

PhotoID:2892 This equity initiative is aimed at assisting students on low personal income and who have difficulty in accessing computer labs on CQU campuses with the award of the DELL 6400 Inspiron laptop.

The award has already been promoted to students, and 33 have been chosen to receive a laptop as part of the program. The recipients are studying at locations in regional and isolated areas of WA, NSW and Queensland including Rockhampton, Mackay, Bundaberg and Gladstone.

Two of the successful students - Katrina Anderson and Catherine Carson - attended Tuesday's launch as representatives of the wider group of recipients.
