Uni invites more help with Childwise program

Four Education students from CQUniversity Bundaberg created a project called ‘Classroom Management for the Contemporary Consumer' last year.
It was adapted from the ‘Childwise' program, which is targeted at parents raising moral and virtuous children.
The program presents authentic and contextual learning scenarios that help students become emotionally balanced, intellectually assertive and morally sensible members of society. It also aims to create a learning environment that fosters professional relationships between teachers and students.
This program is being implemented at CQUniversity by Sean McCartney of Peirson Services, Dr Rosie Thrupp from CQUniversity and Gin Gin State High School teacher Tony Fraser.
Twenty participants are taking part in the free 10-week program to establish positive relationships in the classroom.
Many participants are teachers, while some are currently studying the Bachelor of Learning Management at CQUniversity and hope that these foundations will make them better teachers.
Mr McCartney says "Peirson services have been using Childwise with outstanding results".
"We have seen families strengthened, damaged marriages healed and harmony brought to homes," he said.
CQUniversity is inviting expressions of interest from community members to run second program on Childwise in the classroom.
