After an intense and gruelling 3 days of competition, Accounting student Rabi Babu Karki defeated some very tough opponents to take first place and top prize in the CQU Sydney International Campus table tennis competition held this week.

The competition attracted a large cohort of students from diverse backgrounds and nationalities all eager to participate in the social and sporting event.

Not only did students competing provide entertainment with their backspin, lob shots and counter-smashes but so too did the boisterous crowd of students enjoying the friendly but spirited contest.

Day 1 and 2 of the competition illustrated the talent on offer as friends, class mates and colleagues competed against one another in a bid to reach the next round of the competition.

The third and final day saw the finalists on show. As expected the semi-finals proved to be an exciting affair with Bijay Khanal, Kushal Puri, Suraj Sijipati and Rabi Karki vying for the top 2 positions.

And it was worth the wait. The final showdown between Rabi and Suraj proved to be an exciting and energetic game as fellow students applauded on almost every point. Eventually Rabi Karki triumphed and came home with the goods taking out first place and awarded with a trophy, movie voucher and $50 book voucher. Runner up Suraj Sijipati was also awarded with a movie voucher.

Thanks to all the students who took part in the table tennis competition as well as the onlookers who supported the event.

A very special thank you also to Meagan Johnson of Client Services for her excellent organisation of the event. PhotoID:4258, Rabi Karki and Suraj Sijipati in action
