Engaging Indigenous people within Higher Ed

CQUniversity's Office of Indigenous Engagement recently hosted a visit from the Oodgeroo Unit of Queensland University of Technology (QUT), at Rockhampton Campus.

Professor Anita Lee Hong, Director of the Oodgeroo Unit, and Lone Pearce, Project Officer, met with Office of Indigenous Engagement staff to discuss employment issues and best practice models for engaging Indigenous people within the higher education sector, including governance matters.

Big day for the University

Monday, December 13, is set to be a big day for the University with a party, presentations and a naming all set to highlight the day’s activities.

CQU Rockhampton staff will get the opportunity to relax and socialise with the Chancellor and Vice-Chancellor at the staff Christmas party being held in the Birdcage bar from 2.30pm to 4.30 pm, with drinks and nibbles being provided.

The hard work and dedication of staff members will also be recognised with the presentation of the Meritorious Service Medals and Plaques to be held at the staff party.

December 13 will also feature the naming of the Stan Jones Precinct in the Rockhampton CBD in honour of former CQU Chancellor Hon Justice Stan Jones, and the unveiling of a sign to mark the occasion.

Recently-retired CQU Vice-Chancellor Dr Glenice Hancock will also attend the ceremony, which is to be followed by a meeting of the University Council.
