Visitors to help Rocky people taste Thai culture

Sixteen Thai high school students will spend late April and early May in Rockhampton, learning English while encouraging cultural exchange opportunities.
The Universal Cultural Exchange (UCE) Foundation of Thailand group will be hosted by Central Queensland University Language Centre, local Homestay families, the Cathedral College and St Anthony's Primary School.
The visitors will try out Aussie sports and foods during an itinerary which also includes trips to Cooberrie Wildlife Sanctuary, Yeppoon beach, Rockhampton Heritage Village, Kershaw Gardens, the riverbank parklands, St Joseph's Cathedral, Dreamtime Cultural Centre and the Rocky Water Park.
The Thai teenagers will be matched with Australian 'buddies' during three days at Cathedral College and will also spend a day interacting with pupils at St Anthony's Primary School.
The visitors will present traditional Thai dance displays to their school hosts and will also present Thai food and dance displays to their Homestay hosts. They will be shown how to prepare Australian food recipes and will learn about Australian culture.
Highlights of the visit include: sport on campus (9am-Noon on Wednesday, April 27); presentations of dance and culture at St Anthony's Primary School (8.30am-12.45pm on Friday, April 29); Rockhampton Heritage Village visit (9am-Noon on Wednesday, May 4); Cathedral College visit for dance presentation (12.30pm-3pm on Tuesday, May 10).
