Engaging Indigenous people within Higher Ed

CQUniversity's Office of Indigenous Engagement recently hosted a visit from the Oodgeroo Unit of Queensland University of Technology (QUT), at Rockhampton Campus.

Professor Anita Lee Hong, Director of the Oodgeroo Unit, and Lone Pearce, Project Officer, met with Office of Indigenous Engagement staff to discuss employment issues and best practice models for engaging Indigenous people within the higher education sector, including governance matters.

Bed-making race part of Mackay's nursing celebration 

Nurses from the Mackay region gathered at CQUniversity this week (May 12) to celebrate International Nurses Day, with the Mackay campus hosting a special function. 

The festivities kicked off with a videoconferenced presentation from Dr Christine Hallett, Director of the UK Centre for the History of Nursing and Midwifery from the University of Manchester.  Christine discussed her recent book Containing Trauma:  Nursing Work in the First World War

Festivities continued into the afternoon with the annual bed-making competition between the Good Shepherd Lodge and CQUniversity nursing lecturers and students.  The afternoon also featured guest speakers and afternoon tea.
