Engaging Indigenous people within Higher Ed

CQUniversity's Office of Indigenous Engagement recently hosted a visit from the Oodgeroo Unit of Queensland University of Technology (QUT), at Rockhampton Campus.

Professor Anita Lee Hong, Director of the Oodgeroo Unit, and Lone Pearce, Project Officer, met with Office of Indigenous Engagement staff to discuss employment issues and best practice models for engaging Indigenous people within the higher education sector, including governance matters.

CQU supports launch of Disability Action Week 

An official launch for Disability Action Week was held in the Community Sports Centre at CQU Rockhampton on Monday, thanks to University sponsorship.

PhotoID:1539 CQU, through the Equity and Diversity Office and the Regional Disability Liaison Officer initiative, has been active in the planning and conduct of Action Week activities for several years.

Vice-Chancellor Professor Glenice Hancock was involved in the launch, which included signing choirs, a sausage sizzle, a cake-cutting ceremony, a Darumbal welcome and an opening by the Mayor.

The sports centre later hosted a wheelchair basketball corporate challenge.

The week continued with a Better Living Expo and a Low Impact Fun Exercise session.
