The British Consul-General Ms Helen Horn visited the Centre for Railway Engineering (CRE) based at CQU Rockhampton last week.
Ms Horn met Deputy Vice-Chancellor Professor Jim Mienczakowski and CRE staff before touring the Centre and Hi-Lab.
CRE’s Professor Peter Wolfs said he discussed with Ms Horn the importance of railways to the mining industry and the many features of Australia's railway network which are similar to that in the UK, including electrification designs.
