Hunt leaves with mixed feelings

After more than a decade at CQUniversity supporting Indigenous students, Laurel Hunt is retiring with mixed feelings.
Speaking at her farewell morning tea this week, she thanked her colleagues at Nulloo Yumbah, the University's Indigenous, Learning, Spirituality & Research Centre.
She said she was proud of what had been achieved via the nationally-renowned Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Tertiary Entry Program (TEP) and the University's Reconciliation Statement.
However, she reminded people that the University's Reconciliation policy had yet to be fully implemented and urged her colleagues to continue their efforts on this front.
"I'm also sad to be leaving the students. I have some wonderful memories of our students to take with me," Ms Hunt said.
As evidence of her commitment to learning, Ms Hunt was among a TEP team which gained a national Citation for Outstanding Contributions to Student Learning as part of the the 2007 Carrick Australian Awards for University Teaching.
