Shaz battles terminal cancer but fights for relay

Shaz Sierek (pictured with daughter Shelby) has agreed to be the face of Rockhampton’s Relay for Life event on May 14-15 next year, despite not knowing if she will be around to attend the event.

PhotoID:1861 Relay for Life will be held again at CQU Rockhampton's athletics track.

Shaz (formerly known as Shaz Daye) was the project officer for the inaugural Rockhampton Relay for Life in 2003, when she had recently completed treatment for breast cancer.

Her recovery seemed to be on track until a few months ago, but she is now facing up to the prospect of terminal cancer.

Ms Sierek has been featured in the Queensland media on several occasions, thanks to her determination and her goal to complete a book on her struggle called ‘Bald and Boobless’.

PhotoID:1862 She visited Rockhampton over the weekend and arranged to meet some of her friends at the Queensland Cancer Fund office for morning tea on Monday.
