Toastmasters attend campus training day

More than 30 members of the seven Toastmasters Clubs in the Mackay and Whitsundays attended a training day at CQU Mackay.

The training day was organised by Rodney Pratt, who is one of the Northern Division's Toastmasters Leadership Institute Co-ordinators.

PhotoID:2117 At the start of the day, incoming Area 14 Governor Peter Baxter gave a presentation on Toastmasters International's Distinguished Club Program. This program consists of 10 goals that all clubs will be striving to achieve.

The attendees were also given training in the various club executive officer roles that they would be taking on. This is particularly important for those people who are unfamiliar with the roles.

The incoming Northern Division Governor Roger Tredwell spoke on his priorities for the coming Toastmasters year. He said that boosting the membership of all clubs in the area was one of his biggest goals.

Toastmasters is a worldwide organisation that promotes better speaking, listening and thinking skills among its members. For more information, contact Peter Baxter on 4940 7418.
