CQU Library Society to show Italian film
Published on 21 April, 2006
Central Queensland University (CQU) Library Society will show Italian film ‘Facing Window’ on May 5 from 7.30pm at CQU Mackay campus as part of the monthly film night for members.
The film is directed by Turkish born, Italian based director, Ferzan Ozpetek who is famous for his films featuring women who encounter life changing events and situations.
In ‘Facing Windows’ the woman is Giovanna who exists in a relatively unhappy marriage and is contemplating an affair with a handsome man across from the couple's apartment.
Davide, a survivor of the World War II resistance and interesting character, enters the couple's life and house, changing them forever.
Library Society committee member Pauline McNee has previewed the movie and said it was the character Davide; played by Massimo Girotti and who died shortly after the making of the movie; that impacted her most.
‘He’s the one you walk away afterwards thinking about.’ said Pauline. ‘I think it’s a movie for everyone. It’s got feeling, impact, great scenery and warmth'.
Membership to the Library Society is just $20 and entitles members to $5 entry to monthly movies shown by the Society.
Members enjoy film nights on the first Friday of every month as well as discounts at the CQU Mackay bookshop, Angus and Roberston book club list, and concession price admission to the city film festivals.
