BIKE CHICKS CYCLE SCHOOL ‘A Cycling Development Program for Women’ ________________________________________ M EDIA RELEASE Bike Chicks – Development Program Launch The Rockhampton Cycling Club’s Bike Chicks Development Program will commence on Wednesday 21st June with a launch of the program at Central Queensland University at 5.45pm in the Building 18 lecture theatre (Nursing Building).
The Bike Chicks Development Program has attracted ‘chicks’ ranging from varied ages (10 – 21) and skill abilities to join a 5 month cycling development program aimed at introducing the girls to cycling, both as a physical activity and to improve fitness levels but also as a social and competitive sport should they be interested in partaking in competitions further into the program.
Bike Chicks coordinators, Anouska Edwards and Alex Bright from the Rockhampton Cycling Club will head up the program, supervising 3 training sessions a week ranging from skills to road rides, core strength and flexibility as well as incorporating physio screenings and regular testing of the girls.
Each ‘chick’ will also receive as part of their registration, a cycling jersey and knicks, bike shop vouchers, waterbottles and a Cycling Queensland VIP Cycling Licenses valued at approximately $200, covering them for competition and insurance.
The first Development Program training session will be held on Sunday 26th June with physiotherapy screenings and bike set up before the girls will hit the roads of Central Queensland.
