Bundy boy back with a blast

Former Bundy boy Stephen Smith is due back with a blast in his home town on October 29 as the ConJazz tour arrives with workshops and performances for local schools.

Nearing the end of his jazz degree with CQUniversity in Mackay, Stephen plans to move to Brisbane in 2009 to spend time working and rehearsing.

In the future, he is thinking about joining the Army or Navy band or to complete a one-year teaching course to bridge into the school environment.

It's been a busy final year at the Central Queensland Conservatorium of Music, at CQUniversity Mackay, as Stephen secured a paying gig on Hamilton Island with ConJazz and has played regular gigs around Mackay with his funk band D'Phunktion.

He also played at the Mackay Festival of the Arts and went out with a bang during October with the Big Night In concert in Mackay.

Stephen attended Kepnock State High School before joining the Conservatorium jazz program.

The tour is running from October 27-November 1:

- Oct 27-28 Sunshine Coast

- Oct 29 Bundaberg - workshop/performance for schools in area

- Oct 30 Tannum Sands/Gladstone

- Oct 31 Rockhampton

- Nov 1 Rockhampton - workshop/performance for schools in area
