Engaging Indigenous people within Higher Ed

CQUniversity's Office of Indigenous Engagement recently hosted a visit from the Oodgeroo Unit of Queensland University of Technology (QUT), at Rockhampton Campus.

Professor Anita Lee Hong, Director of the Oodgeroo Unit, and Lone Pearce, Project Officer, met with Office of Indigenous Engagement staff to discuss employment issues and best practice models for engaging Indigenous people within the higher education sector, including governance matters.

CQU Bundaberg nursing student receives award 

A CQU Bundaberg nursing student, Catherine Mills (pictured), has been awarded a High Achiever Award from the Royal College of Nursing.

PhotoID:1258 The Royal College of Nursing, the nation's leading professional organisation represents nurses from all areas of practice throughout Australia, and invites universities to nominate high achievers in their final year. An award is granted to each Australian university campus.

Catherine Mills achieved a GPA of 6.4 and will graduate with a Bachelor of Health (Nursing) at the 2004 Graduation ceremony.

CQU Bundaberg Nursing lecturer Wendy Madsen said the award, which is valued at $310 and includes a one year membership to the Royal College of Nursing and a certificate, was recognition for the dedication Catherine had shown toward her studies and future career.

CQU Bundaberg Head of Campus Professor Alex Grady presented Catherine with her award at a ceremony held at the University.
