Engaging Indigenous people within Higher Ed

CQUniversity's Office of Indigenous Engagement recently hosted a visit from the Oodgeroo Unit of Queensland University of Technology (QUT), at Rockhampton Campus.

Professor Anita Lee Hong, Director of the Oodgeroo Unit, and Lone Pearce, Project Officer, met with Office of Indigenous Engagement staff to discuss employment issues and best practice models for engaging Indigenous people within the higher education sector, including governance matters.

International students celebrate their time in Rocky 

Central Queensland University last night (Thursday, October 19) held a Going Home Ceremony for 39 international students from 12 different nations in Rockhampton.

PhotoID:3508 The students have come from India, Vietnam, Indonesia, Poland, Bangladesh, Japan, Sri Lanka, Denmark, Canada, Thailand, Korea and Colombia.

They are from the Faculty of Business and Informatics and Study Abroad cohorts.

The Going Home Ceremony is a formal occasion which celebrates the achievements of CQU’s international students who expect to complete their degrees this term. Many of these students are unable to attend a CQU graduation ceremony because of student visa limitations.

Deputy Vice-Chancellor Professor Angela Delves provided the formal address, farewelled the students and presented them with their Going Home certificates.
