CQUniversity Sydney - Campus Director's Award for Leadership

Two students from CQUniversity Sydney have been honoured with the Campus Director's Award for Leadership.

Charlene Gilda Stephanie Fock Dick Wing (Bachelor of Accounting) and Tendayi Makwehe (Master of Information Technology) will accept the accolade during the graduation ceremony.

The Campus Director's Award for Leadership not only recognises outstanding academic achievement, but also includes contributions to the community, capacity to act as mentor to others, ability to respond to challenges and a commitment to the value of cultural diversity.

Charlene Gilda Stephanie Fock Dick Wing set her sights on enrolling in a Bachelor of Accounting degree after completing an Advanced Diploma in Accounting at TAFE.  Following many hours of research, Charlene eventually decided on enrolling at CQUniversity Sydney and has not stopped smiling since.

Charlene approached her studies with a lot of planning and determination. After enrolment each term, she would develop a detailed study plan in order to coordinate and balance her studies with social and work commitments. Her next goal is to apply for accreditation with one of the major professional bodies.

Having completed undergraduate and postgraduate studies in Law in the UK, Tendayi Makwehe set about looking to enrol in a postgraduate Information Technology course. Tendayi settled on pursuing her Masters of Information Technology degree at CQUniversity Sydney after researching The Good Universities Guide.

Tendayi attributes her exceptional results to hard work and a "can do attitude". Furthermore she acknowledges the quality of academics that have motivated her, explaining that the enthusiasm is a trait found in leaders. She states "having been at the receiving end of good leaders at CQUniversity, I know the value of it and know how important it is to impart the same enthusiasm as a future leader".

Tendayi takes a humanistic approach to life, which is evident through her activities on campus. As a Student Representative for the Student Association, she has had the platform to communicate with the student population to address issues and promote activities.
She would like to work in IT and make a positive contribution in that field. But she is very drawn to Human Rights and envisages a position in this field in the future.
