Engaging Indigenous people within Higher Ed

CQUniversity's Office of Indigenous Engagement recently hosted a visit from the Oodgeroo Unit of Queensland University of Technology (QUT), at Rockhampton Campus.

Professor Anita Lee Hong, Director of the Oodgeroo Unit, and Lone Pearce, Project Officer, met with Office of Indigenous Engagement staff to discuss employment issues and best practice models for engaging Indigenous people within the higher education sector, including governance matters.

Nursing students snare scholarships 

A group of CQU postgraduate nursing students has gained scholarships to support their academic endeavours.

Bronwyn Pearse was awarded $10,000 via the Australian Government Nurse Scholarship Program: Continuing Professional Education Scheme for Rural and Remote Nurses. Ms Pearse completed Discipline Studies in Acute Cardiac Care and is commencing Master of Clinical Practice (Acute Cardiac Nursing) in Term 1 this year.

Tina Gray has been awarded a Queensland Nursing Council scholarship. She is currently enrolled in Discipline Studies in Neonatal Nursing and is intending to enroll in the Master of Clinical Practice (Neonatal Nursing) to achieve a Graduate Diploma (interim award).

Narelle Pails has been awarded a Queensland Health scholarship valued at $1500. She is currently enrolled in Discipline Studies in Perioperative Nursing.

Tracey Plumb has been awarded an Australian Government Nurse Scholarship Program: Continuing Professional Education Scheme for Rural and Remote Nurses worth $8000. She is soon to enroll in Discipline Studies in Child and Adolescent Health.

Keryn Abberton has been awarded a Queensland Health scholarship valued at $1500.

She has completed a Queensland Health Transition Program and is commencing a Master of Clinical Practice (Perioperative Nursing) in Term 1 this year to achieve a Graduate Diploma (interim award).
