Bundaberg flocks to comedy film festival

More than 100 people turned out for the inaugural Over the Fence Comedy Film Festival held at CQU Bundaberg on Monday.
The audience was exposed to 14 of the boldest and irreverent new Australian short films dealing with topics such as personal hygiene, euthansia, dirt bugs, kidnapping, air guitaring, thieves, sex and karaoke, in what was a hilarious evening.
The program ranged from animation to live action with titles including No Strings Attached - a documentary about the Queensland Air Guitar Championships, Sixth Scent – how to fend off unwanted corporate attention in a lift, and Changing the Earth: the Dean Dirtbug Story.
The festival, which was shown as part of the wider Bundaberg Festival of the Arts, is actually in its 7th year. The festival was initiated in Western Australia and is now considered to be the “biggest and best” comedy festival in Australia.
The event was so popular that Head of Campus, Professor Alex Grady has already pledged to host the event next year.
