Health postgrad students present at conference

CQU’s postgraduate students Tabassum (Neeta) Ferdous and Ainsley Harch recently presented their research projects at the 36th Public Health Association of Australia Conference in Perth.

The pair produced poster presentations for the conference which were themed about the ‘Successes in Public Health’. Neeta’s research focuses on issues surrounding the use of breast cancer screenings among migrant women in Rockhampton, while Ainsley's research focuses on an individual's beliefs on their diabetes and the self-management of the illness.

Neeta was successful in winning a highly commended award for her poster out of about 60 entries. The conference awarded one prize for the best poster and two highly commended prizes for runner-ups.

Neeta will receive one year free PHAA membership including a free Australian and New Zealand Journal of Public Health for one year.

Neeta’s poster is currently being displayed at the display board at the School of Nursing and Health Studies in Rockhampton.

Neeta is currently working on her Master of Health Sciences, while Ainsley is working on her PhD. Both are students in CQU’s School of Nursing and Health Studies in Rockhampton.
