Ratings show CQU grads are top stars

For 3 years in row, Central Queensland University has received 5 stars and placed among the highest rated universities in Australia for Positive Graduate Outcomes and International Enrolments according to the just-released Good Universities Guide (Undergraduate) 2007.

The University also rated very highly (4 out of 5 stars) for Teaching Quality, Getting a Job, and Graduate Starting Salaries. Editors indicate that CQU provides some of the best electronic support in the country as well.

PhotoID:3144 The Guide shows that CQU’s 26, 000 students are receiving very good academic services, high-quality teaching and excellent access to technology and are experiencing positive graduate outcomes that lead the country, with employers seeking out and rewarding CQU graduates.

According to the Good Universities report recent graduates are benefiting from CQU’s course profile, noting that “CQU’s efforts are paying off... with [graduate] outcomes rating well against national figures\".

Almost 91% of Central Queensland University bachelor degree graduates found full-time employment within 4 months of completing their degrees, according to the 2005 Graduate Destination Survey (GDS). CQU ranked 10% higher than the national average of 80.9%.

Five stars were also given to CQU for Cultural Diversity. More than half of CQU’s students are international students. The University is acknowledged throughout all levels of government for international education, receiving multiple awards and commendations including numerous Queensland Export Awards (education category) and two National Export Awards for Education (2002 & 2005).

CQU, which received the 2006 Queensland Multicultural Award (Large Business), also received high marks for Indigenous Participation (4 stars). CQU’s Indigenous Learning, Spirituality and Research Centre -- Nulloo Yumbah -- ensures Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students are given every opportunity to gain access to and participate fully in the life of the University. The Centre also promotes Indigenous academic vitality among staff and students.

Editors confirmed that the cost of living at CQU’s 5 Central Queensland campuses is among the most affordable in Australia, too.
