The Central Queensland Conservatorium of Music is 15 years old and everyone in Mackay is invited to a year-long party.
A 15th Birthday Gala Concert on March 20 at the CQCM theatre from 8pm marks the first of many events to celebrate the contributions made by an organisation responsible for raising the cultural profile of Central Queensland.
CQCM Sub-Dean Judith Brown said the night of entertainment features the talent of the CQCM staff and students.
“All styles of music will be covered from the best of the classics to the swing of jazz and the soaring melodies of music theatre,” she said.
“CQCM also welcomes to the staff Dr Robert Keane who is one of Australia’s leading pianists and music educators and will perform on the evening too.”.
“Dr Keane is well-known to many music teachers in Mackay as he has contributed to master classes over the years and I am sure he will make a valuable contribution to the teaching and performance programs at CQCM.”.
Another highlight of the evening will be the official naming of the Helen Lancaster Foyer in honour of Associate Professor Lancaster who was the CQCM foundation director. Associate Professor Lancaster will be attendance for this special occasion.
