Engaging Indigenous people within Higher Ed

CQUniversity's Office of Indigenous Engagement recently hosted a visit from the Oodgeroo Unit of Queensland University of Technology (QUT), at Rockhampton Campus.

Professor Anita Lee Hong, Director of the Oodgeroo Unit, and Lone Pearce, Project Officer, met with Office of Indigenous Engagement staff to discuss employment issues and best practice models for engaging Indigenous people within the higher education sector, including governance matters.

Defence recruits from ranks of CQU students 

The Australian Defence Force recruits up to 800 graduates and undergraduates per year in the Navy, Army and Air Force across all disciplines and degrees.

Graduate officers earn from $47,000 and receive benefits such as rental assistance, full medical and dental cover, further education assistance and a generous superannuation scheme.

In addition to the Graduate program, Defence has Undergraduate Programs, which can also provide up to $27,000 pa salary while studying, benefits as per graduates plus payments and contributions towards tuition fees, HECS fees, student union fees, library and examination fees, and the provision of textbooks and equipment.
