Kanida's at home in both Sydney and Bangkok

For student Kanida Potrayanont, living and studying in Sydney Australia is just like being back home in Bangkok.

The Thai student has completed 2 degrees through CQUniversity and University of Sydney in that time, and has embarked on a third - a PhD through CQUniversity.

"Sydney and Bangkok are similar in terms that they are both busy cities, although Bangkok is much busier," explained Kanida.

"I feel like home when I am in Sydney even though my family still live in Thailand. I have been here for so long now, and Sydney has a lot of Thai food that is the same as back home."

Kanida graduated with a Bachelor of Multimedia Studies from CQUniversity after diverging away from her medical studies in Thailand.

While studying she completed an internship in junior graphic design at a beauty company for 6 months.

She found multimedia a fascinating program and was extremely happy whenever her work was published.

Wanting more experience in 3D design, she continued with a Masters degree in Design Science (Digital Media) at the University of Sydney in the following year.

She has since decided to continue with a PhD with CQUniversity, analysing cross-cultural visual communication in tourism industries.

"The research aims to investigate the advertising and promotion strategies employed in the tourism industries of Australia, South Korea and Thailand."

She said that developed western countries and developed and developing Asian countries approach tourism promotion differently.

Having worked in international study agencies and travelled throughout Asia, learning languages along the way, Kanida was keen to understand how Australia and Asian countries conduct their tourism marketing.

Keeping it interesting, Kanida is also currently working for a pharmacy for another experience, working with the company's advertising and promotions.
