Regional managers to learn how to lead during a crisis

World-renowned expert and author of the definitive book on Crisis Management, Ross Campbell will be presenting a one-day workshop at CQUniversity Gladstone.

The workshop on October 2 (in conjunction with the University) is designed to help managers at all levels prepare to lead their organisation in the event of a crisis.

"In a matter of minutes, a serious incident or emergency can run out of control and disrupt a business with catastrophic effect," Mr Campbell says.

"In some cases it can take years to recover. The right response actions can minimise serious damage and can quickly put the organisation in control of its destiny. If an organisation is ready, then there will be a clear message about what is being done, and who is doing it."

Places are limited and registrations are being accepted now. Early bird discounts apply for confirmed registrations prior to 12th September.

Further information is available on the workshop by contacting Sheryle Gherardi on (07) 4970 7348 or s.gherardi@cqu.edu.au .

Working with management, he implements strategic, integrated crisis management, recovery and business continuity frameworks, supported by tested continual-improvement programs.

This workshop is designed for those people who may have already completed some training in crisis management to take them to the next level of preparedness. It will also be useful for those who have never had any training in the area to quickly develop the skills and expertise needed.

"Businesses are very risk-minded now, being aware that a crisis can cause serious harm to personnel, damage to property, loss of market, interrupted workflow, employee turnover, lawsuits, government investigations and sky-rocketing insurance premiums.

"Effective crisis management offers a return on investment - resilience is a very good investment," says Mr Campbell.

CQUniversity Gladstone Head of Campus, Dr Pierre Viljoen is excited about the prospect of working with not only Ross Campbell but with other equally prominent experts in critical areas to bring much needed training opportunities to Central Queensland businesses.

"We aim to be a prominent future force in providing targeted Professional Education in a variety of areas to the local community, businesses and industry.  We will support this effort by utilising the existing CQUniversity skills base as well as external experts like Ross where appropriate," he said.
