Graduate wins Young Engineer Award

CQU graduate Brett Cagney has received the Institute of Public Works Engineering Australia (IPWEA) Queensland Division's Young Engineer Award for 2007.

Mr Cagney is Rockhampton City Council's infrastructure planning engineer and RCC acting CEO Neil Hanschen has praised him for participating in the Whole of Council Asset Management (WOCAM) strategy, which won the Engineering Excellence Award in the Asset Management category last year.
RCC director of Works Services Martin Crow has praised Mr Cagney for applying his skills in a professional way to whatever task was presented to him.

Brett has achieved some significant successes for Council and for himself. He is technically strong and has gained the respect of his fellow workers through developing and successfully implementing processes and achieving substantial outcomes in infrastructure and asset areas for Councils. Brett has put back into the future by providing a guest lecture on infrastructure asset management to 1st year engineering students at Central Queensland University. Brett is always willing and puts his hand up to assist.
