Successful CQU student shares her story with others

It hasn’t always been smooth sailing, but Ms Corrina Lindby now runs her own successful business, the ‘Debt Counselling and Mediation Centre Pty Ltd’, and is visiting Mackay on November 11 to speak at the George Street Neighbourhood Centre at 6.30pm on behalf of Parents Without Partners.

CQU lecturer and sub-dean of Business and Law, Jo Luck has described her former student in glowing terms.

PhotoID:1695 “Corinna would be one of the most hard-working and determined students I have ever had the pleasure of teaching,” said Ms Luck. “When Corrina commenced her business degree she was married with several young children, had been out of the workforce for some time, had little financial support and was dealing with all the difficult circumstances this entailed.".

“Corinna finished her degree by external study, after moving to Townsville. She excelled in her studies and was awarded a Bachelor of Business Degree (Accounting) with Distinction,” said Ms Luck. “It was a pleasure to see Corinna return to Mackay with her family for her graduation ceremony in 2003.".

Corrina has overcome the challenges she encountered while studying and is now a successful financial counsellor.

Her company based in Brisbane currently employs over 20 staff, and services the whole of Australia. She has developed a program that combines accounting with social welfare to assist people in solving their financial crisis, and with a 98% success rate, she has proven that her program not only works but changes people’s lives for the better.

According to Corinna, her company is quite unique in the debt counselling and mediation arena as they approach people’s financial problems from an accounting background, rather than a purely social welfare background. Corina sees this as her company’s major strength.

Corrina will speak about a number of solutions for resolving financial difficulties when she visits Mackay this week.
