Engaging Indigenous people within Higher Ed

CQUniversity's Office of Indigenous Engagement recently hosted a visit from the Oodgeroo Unit of Queensland University of Technology (QUT), at Rockhampton Campus.

Professor Anita Lee Hong, Director of the Oodgeroo Unit, and Lone Pearce, Project Officer, met with Office of Indigenous Engagement staff to discuss employment issues and best practice models for engaging Indigenous people within the higher education sector, including governance matters.

Con lecturer at coast for music camp 

Kim Kirkman, a Mackay-based lecturer from CQU's Central Queensland Conservatorium of Music, will travel south to offer expert advice to Emmaus College vocal students attending an annual music camp in Yeppoon.

PhotoID:2510 A former music director/co-owner and singer with The Ten Tenors, Kim has worked extensively with young voices in Australia and the UK.

Martin O'Callohan, director of the Emmaus Band, is pleased to have Kim return.

"Kim sang at the Emmaus Music Bowl performance 4 years ago in front of 5000 people, it is great to have him back again," says Martin.

The camp will culminate in a free performance at the Yeppoon Recreational Centre, from 10.30am on Sunday, February 12, with band, choir and solo performances.
