Rocky hosts arts, science and health camp

Dozens of Year 10 students from throughout Queensland will converge on Rockhampton next week (August 22-26) to attend an arts, science and health camp.

CQU is hosting the four-day camp incorporating workshops in the fields of social and welfare work, psychology, nursing, health studies, humanities, human movement science and occupational health and safety.

The camp will also give students the chance to experience university life, as they will stay at the Capricornia College residential facility and be mentored by university students.

Participants have earned scholarships to cover their expenses, based on an application process , which was offered to over 90 schools across Queensland. Forty students were selected from over 90 high quality applications.

Organiser Alex Bright said the visiting students would complete a group project , which will draw on the workshops they have attended throughout the week and will require them to draw on their teamwork and oral presentation skills.

They would also gain careers, enrolment and study advice and hear from guest speakers.
