URGENT NEWS! Travel Policy

Central Queensland University, after a very careful review of the safety and security of our staff during this time of international crisis, has announced new travel guidelines.

PhotoID:572 University approval of travel by any staff member on university business to the USA between now and 31 March 2003 is now withdrawn. Although the updated travel advice for Australians in relation to the USA does not prevent travel, it does advise that: “The United States Government raised its Homeland Security Advisory System Threat Level to high (orange) on 17 March.".

“Until we all see how events unfold during the next few days, I am not willing to agree to staff travelling to the USA,” said Vice Chancellor and President Glenice Hancock.

All travel to IRAQ, Syria, Jordan, the Ivory Coast or the Central African Republic is prohibited until further notice.

Travel to Hong Kong, Singapore or other areas known to be involved in the current health scare (flu/pneumonia) is strongly discouraged.

“At this stage, travel to all other places continues to be within the guidelines previously communicated,” added Professor Hancock.
