Engaging Indigenous people within Higher Ed

CQUniversity's Office of Indigenous Engagement recently hosted a visit from the Oodgeroo Unit of Queensland University of Technology (QUT), at Rockhampton Campus.

Professor Anita Lee Hong, Director of the Oodgeroo Unit, and Lone Pearce, Project Officer, met with Office of Indigenous Engagement staff to discuss employment issues and best practice models for engaging Indigenous people within the higher education sector, including governance matters.

Level playing field sought for sports education 

A national conference will seek strategies to give players, coaches , officials and sports administrators from outside big cities better access to sports education opportunities.

PhotoID:2 The conference, dubbed 'Whose Looking After the Bush?', will be held at Rydges International, Yeppoon, Central Queensland from July 14-16.

Conference chair Dr Peter Reaburn said the event would identify best practice in delivery of sports education services and accreditation courses to rural and regional Australia.

He said delegates would address issues of access, expense, travel, expertise, employment pathways and mentoring.
