North Queensland high school students will have a unique opportunity to work with (and be mentored by) talented staff and students from CQUniversity's Central Queensland Conservatorium of Music (CQCM).
Coordinated by Mackay CQCM lecturer Kim Kirkman, Showtime workshops are taking place in Townsville and Ingham between August 14-15 and are designed for students wanting to sing, dance or act in theatre. Workshops will also be available in Rockhampton (August 28), Gladstone (August 29) and Yeppoon (August 30).
Formidable talent for workshops and concerts in North QueenslandThe 90-minute workshops aim to expose young performers in North Queensland to industry experts and are a challenging experience for those students who may be considering studying drama or musical theatre at a tertiary level, with a view to a career path.
"The workshop offers a stimulating and supportive experience for any young performer and is full of fun and inspiration. Students will explore singing techniques and how they relate to music theatre," Kim said.
"Students involved in the workshops will also have the opportunity to perform with Formidable, an operatic 'boy band' which is touring."
The creation of Formidable is made up of students, graduates and staff of CQUniversity. Brett O'Neill and Sam Hanson are currently enrolled in third year in the Bachelor of Theatre program. Paul Tabone is a recent graduate of the program and Neil Young and Kris Brennan have vocal lessons from music lecturer Garrick Jones and Judith Brown (piano) is also on staff at CQUniversity.
Formidable will be performing in Townsville and Ingham, details are available via http://www.formidable.cc/
