High achievers from different areas of the creative arts converged in Gladstone at the launch of the ‘Sea Dreams' project over the weekend.
They included Harry Haythorne MBE, former artistic director of the Royal New Zealand Ballet and professional dancers Peter Wilson and Thomas Johansson.
Also attending was veteran Brisbane actor Paul Sherman who has acted in 36 of Shakespeare's plays, covering 103 roles. Paul is also a published poet and playwright and has translated opera.
Author Mark Svendsen, who spoke at the launch, recently released his latest novel To Die For, which is set on the Curtis Coast.
The Sea Dreams project will culminate in a week-long festival of local creative endeavour in August. Details via Sea Dreams Festival of Arts
Project coordinator Dr Andrew Wallace said it was wonderful to have such distinguished guests helping to launch Sea Dreams.
"Highlights included Paul Sherman delivering a couple of speeches from Shakespeare's The Tempest, which is a play being considered for production as part of Sea Dreams," Dr Wallace said.
"One aim of the project is to mobilise the best talent Gladstone has available across a range of art forms. But it's not just for our most experienced creative people. All sections of the community will be invited to take part in the Sea Dreams Festival in some way."
