Engaging Indigenous people within Higher Ed

CQUniversity's Office of Indigenous Engagement recently hosted a visit from the Oodgeroo Unit of Queensland University of Technology (QUT), at Rockhampton Campus.

Professor Anita Lee Hong, Director of the Oodgeroo Unit, and Lone Pearce, Project Officer, met with Office of Indigenous Engagement staff to discuss employment issues and best practice models for engaging Indigenous people within the higher education sector, including governance matters.

CQU congratulates Teachers of the Year 

Central Queensland University has announced its Teachers of the Year for 2006.

Staff from across all campuses were evaluated based on their applications for Teaching Excellence Awards.

Four individuals and 1 teaching team from across CQU’s campuses were honoured with an award.

Teacher of the Year 2006: Bundaberg lecturer Karen Seary and Mackay lecturer Cecily Knight;.

Early Career Teacher of the Year 2006: Rockhampton lecturer Dale Trott and Brisbane lecturer Ken Staib; and.

Indigenous Education Teacher of the Year 2006: the Rockhampton Campus Nulloo Yumbah teaching team (including Laurel Hunt, Vicki Pascoe, Jonathan Makuwira, Laurence Armstrong and Kylie Radel).

The Teacher of the Year Awards are the second tier in CQU’s process for recognising teaching excellence and are chosen from the recipients of the Excellence in Teaching Awards, which is an annual award that has been established to provide public recognition of CQU’s best teachers.
