Mackay music lovers get treat from Conservatorium

Mackay residents with an appreciation of fine music and instruments got a good dose of both this Wednesday during ‘Judith, Stuart and Friends’ at the Central Queensland Conservatorium of Music theatre.

PhotoID:3415 Judith Brown, Sub Dean and lecturer at CQCM Mackay, is all about sharing her love of music with fellow musicians and fans.

In her 4th free concert of this series, she delivered an evening of dramatic, passionate, exciting and romantic music of the 19th and 20th centuries.

So who is Stuart you ask? It’s the Stuart Piano – the CQCM’s pride and joy ... a handmade innovative piano which was the 9th of its kind to be made to order in Australia.

The excellent quality of sound is attributed to attaching the piano strings to the soundboard, resulting in a piano that sounds unlike any other.

PhotoID:3416 The special guest to complete the performance was CQCM’s very own internationally acclaimed piano virtuoso and CQCM lecturer, Mark Gasser. Who better to demonstrate the absolute extremes of such a unique and beautiful instrument than Mark.
