Engaging Indigenous people within Higher Ed

CQUniversity's Office of Indigenous Engagement recently hosted a visit from the Oodgeroo Unit of Queensland University of Technology (QUT), at Rockhampton Campus.

Professor Anita Lee Hong, Director of the Oodgeroo Unit, and Lone Pearce, Project Officer, met with Office of Indigenous Engagement staff to discuss employment issues and best practice models for engaging Indigenous people within the higher education sector, including governance matters.

Showcase prepares staff for challenges ahead 

This week's Learning and Teaching Showcase focused CQU staff members on best practice and introduced them to some of the senior staff who will help lead the institution.

The annual Showcase is designed to provide staff with the opportunity to hear national and international speakers discuss current issues in learning and teaching in higher education.

Invited speakers included Dr David Duval, University of Otago (NZ), Professor Richard Johnstone – Carrick Institute; Professor Sandra Wills – University of Wollongong; Associate Professor Justin Malbon – Griffith University; and Associate Professor Seamus Fagan –University of Newcastle.

One well attended session was a panel discussion on educational directions for the institution featuring most of CQU's new senior leaders.
