CQUniversity's Gladstone Campus Bookshop is now open longer hours for the convenience of its staff and students.
Gladstone Campus Library manager Karin Simon said the Bookshop recently relocated into the University Library and is now able to open from 9am until 4.30pm Monday to Friday.
Library staff members, Catherine Prizeman and Wendy Ibbotson show off the new Gladstone Library and Bookshop.CQUniversity Library and Bookshop staff will multi-task across both areas and have been using the relocation break for extensive training.
"While we don't have all of the usual stock on display, the service remains the same for students and staff in regards to ordering and purchasing textbooks, stationery supplies etc," Ms Simon explained.
"Previous opening hours for the Bookshop were often limited, but now we are able to open every weekday and all day."
CQUniversity Bookshop manager David Murray said the combined library and bookshop is a unique concept within Australian universities.
"The Library - Bookshop merger strengthens the Gladstone campus, offering a single point of call to students for their non-contact study requirements," Mr Murray said.
He said the opportunity gives the combined staff scope to broaden their skill sets and work in a larger group of colleagues offering student services within the Gladstone Campus study hub.
"Students can pick up their textbooks, notepads and other stationery needs and sit down with a cup of coffee and study for their courses in the midst of an excellent reference collection."
A celebratory barbecue will be held to launch the Bookshop's new location and hours next Tuesday, July 5 at 12 till 1.30pm. All staff and students are welcome.
There will be some fantastic Bookshop giveaways for students at the launch.
