Engaging Indigenous people within Higher Ed

CQUniversity's Office of Indigenous Engagement recently hosted a visit from the Oodgeroo Unit of Queensland University of Technology (QUT), at Rockhampton Campus.

Professor Anita Lee Hong, Director of the Oodgeroo Unit, and Lone Pearce, Project Officer, met with Office of Indigenous Engagement staff to discuss employment issues and best practice models for engaging Indigenous people within the higher education sector, including governance matters.

Writers Sought for Magazine 

Australian and international writers of short stories and poetry will compete for a prize pool of $1700 in the 2003 Bauhinia Literary Awards.

The Central Queensland University’s literary magazine Idiom 23 will again host the literary awards with prizes up for grabs in open, regional and student categories. The closing date for entries is Monday June 30.

PhotoID:648 Awards administrator Leonie Healey said this was the 11th year the awards have operated and she expected the competition to be very strong.

“The quality of work entered in the competition so far has been quite outstanding,” Ms Healey said. “Anyone with an interest in writing poetry or short stories should consider entering the competition.

Winners will be announced at the Central Queensland Multicultural Fair & CQU Open Day on Sunday August 17 and will be published in the Idiom 23 Literary Magazine, Volume 16.
