Engaging Indigenous people within Higher Ed

CQUniversity's Office of Indigenous Engagement recently hosted a visit from the Oodgeroo Unit of Queensland University of Technology (QUT), at Rockhampton Campus.

Professor Anita Lee Hong, Director of the Oodgeroo Unit, and Lone Pearce, Project Officer, met with Office of Indigenous Engagement staff to discuss employment issues and best practice models for engaging Indigenous people within the higher education sector, including governance matters.

Journalism lecturer on team for Simpson Desert documentary 

CQU Journalism lecturer Bruce Honeywill will join a singer-songwriter, a naturalist and a poet to venture into the heart of the Simpson Desert in June this year, to produce a TV documentary.

Mr Honeywill is an accomplished writer/producer with 14 documentaries completed and distributed worldwide, including The road to freedom goes through hell, which tells of the story of Easter Timor during 1999/2000.

He will travel to the Simpson Desert with camera operator Nik Lachajczak, naturalist Angus Emmott, poet Helen Avery and singer-songwriter Dana Lyons (best known for the Cows with Guns song).
