Engaging Indigenous people within Higher Ed

CQUniversity's Office of Indigenous Engagement recently hosted a visit from the Oodgeroo Unit of Queensland University of Technology (QUT), at Rockhampton Campus.

Professor Anita Lee Hong, Director of the Oodgeroo Unit, and Lone Pearce, Project Officer, met with Office of Indigenous Engagement staff to discuss employment issues and best practice models for engaging Indigenous people within the higher education sector, including governance matters.

CQU Language Centre attracting return visits 

Central Queensland University's Language Centre is attracting return visits from overseas students keen to upgrade their English skills in an attractive environment.

PhotoID:1185 One such return visitor is Fukuoka-bred Shinichi Takeshita, who first came to CQU two years ago with a study tour group.

Now with his sights set on becoming an English teacher in Japan, Shinichi has returned to the Language Centre as a lone traveller.

He has managed to combine his intensive study with visits to tourism features like Great Keppel Island and the Gold Coast.

Shinichi said his confidence with the English language and increased greatly and he is now majoring in English at his university in Japan.
