Fat chance of desk job being healthy

There’s a significant link between the time men spend sitting at work and their tendency to be overweight or obese.
That’s according to new research published this week (July 11) in the ‘American Journal of Preventative Medicine’. It was based on a sample of 1579 men and women in full-time jobs.
Lead researcher Professor Kerry Mummery from Central Queensland University said the results suggest the workplace may play an important role in tackling the growing problems of overweight and obesity.
Professor Mummery said the results did not show significant links between sitting times and overweight/obesity of female workers, meaning further research was needed in this area.
